Best PlayStation deals: Save $200 on a refurbished PS4 or VR headset and more

Considering that it is still a serious challenge to find even the PlayStation 5 in stock, it will be a while before we start to see a discount on Sony’s popular next-gen console. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t yet great deals on all manner of PlayStation consoles, accessories and gear that can help upgrade your gaming setup for less. With a little digging, you can find big discounts on everything from PlayStation controllers to headsets and even consoles, as long as you can live with a refurbished model.

Many recent next-gen games are still available for the PlayStation 4, and if you’re looking for a good price on a console, your best bet is to shop refurbished. GameStop currently has a selection of used 1TB slim models available for $300, about $200 less than the limited amount of new consoles still floating around. This refurbished model includes a DualShock wireless controller, and if you’re looking for a game to play right away, there are discounts on tons of hit titles during PlayStation’s ongoing Days of Play sale.

There are a growing number of virtual reality headsets on the market, and Sony’s PlayStation VR is one of our favorites that you can buy right now. As with other PlayStation consoles, deals are pretty slim at the moment, but if you’re hoping to nab one of these stylish discounted Sony headsets, you can save hundreds by picking up a refurbished model. This headset features a 1080p OLED display and 3D audio support, and is fully compatible with PS4 and PS5.

If you commit to buying a new headset, you can also save $100 on the Iron Man VR bundle, which includes the headset and game for $250.

Turtle Beach is one of the best brands when it comes to gaming headsets, and the second-gen Stealth 600 is one of our favorite PlayStation headsets on the market. These headphones are compatible with PS4 and PS5 and feature 50mm drivers for clear, immersive sound so you can hear every step and shot. They’re completely wireless through the use of a mini-USB transmitter, and the mic arm folds into the headset so it doesn’t get in the way when you’re not using it for voice chat.


Another of our best PlayStation headsets for 2022, the HyperX Cloud Alpha has been named our favorite wired option yet. It’s compatible with PS4 and PS5 (and Xbox and PC if you’re looking for a pair that can do it all) and connects using a detachable 3.5mm aux cable. It features dual-chamber drivers for smooth in-game sound, and the aluminum frame and memory foam ear cushions make them both sturdy and comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

While you can certainly delete games and re-download them later, an external storage drive is a much more efficient solution. While it will still be a while before we start seeing price drops on next-gen consoles, Sony is currently offering a chance to pick up a next-gen controller. During the current Days of Play sale, you can save up to $15 on all color variants of PS5 DualSense wireless controllers, including red, blue, purple, and pink options, which are usually $5 more. than the standard white and black options. Just note that these controllers are not backward compatible with the PlayStation 4.


If you’re looking for multiplayer mayhem, a discounted PS Plus subscription is a must. A subscription is what lets you play games online, and as a bonus, you’ll also get two free games every month and 100GB of free cloud storage. A subscription usually costs $10 per month, but you can save 50% by opting for a full year’s subscription.
