Crypto Space Agency Sends First ‘Cryptonaut’ Into Space Via NFT |

NEW YORK, May 09, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The Crypto Space Agency (CSA), the crypto nation’s space agency, today announced that it has sponsored a seat for one of its community members on the fifth crewed flight of Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket. In a historic moment that is beginning to reveal the real impact that Web3, and NFTs in particular, can have, CSA is making space travel accessible to everyday people.

There have only been an average of six people in space at any given time despite the trillions of dollars spent by national space agencies over the past few decades. CSA is built on the premise that the space and crypto sectors share a common vision for greater political and economic freedom, and that together they can unleash the power of the imagination and passion of humanity for space.

“The realization of a space program is a moment of maturity for emerging countries. It is this moment for the crypto nation that makes the first Cryptonaut deeply symbolic,” said CSA Founder Joshua Skurla. “This is just the beginning of Web3 platforms transforming human society in real life.”

In addition to space travel, the CSA invests in new approaches to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, defense against asteroids, and the incubation of extraterrestrial commercial activity.

The CSA made 5,555 Gen 1 NFTs available on the market on April 25, 2022, promising NFT holders the ability to fly in space. On April 30, the company used an on-chain randomizer to select its first Cryptonaut: Victor Hespanha, a 28-year-old Brazilian engineer and early NFT buyer. Passionate about space, Hespanha has invested in the asset as part of its portfolio diversification strategy. “I bought it thinking about the upside potential,” Hespanha said. “I never imagined mine would be drawn. CSA is making my childhood dream come true with an NFT. Hespanha will only be the second Brazilian to fly in space.

The ASC plans to send another NFT holder into space before the end of the year.

“Victor stepped out of the real world when he bought his first NFT, and now he’s literally stepping off the planet. It’s a Matrix moment,” said CSA Founder Sam Hutchison. “Web3 is blurring the line between fantasy and reality, and CSA offers its members these incredible experiences down the rabbit hole.”

CSA memberships are available. Supporters can still mint Gen 1 NFTs for 0.25 ETH each by visiting NFT Gen 1 holders will receive exclusive benefits, including airdrops of future NFT space collections, merchandise, original content, and access to the allowlist on future membership and token offers, in addition to the repeated ability to fly in space. Proceeds from the NFT and 7.5% royalty on secondary sales will be used to fund new approaches to the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, asteroid defense, incubating off-world commercial efforts and additional spaceflight activities for members.
