Goose Island Beer Company launched its first-ever NFT collection on Friday.
This Chicago-based brewery is now offering the Goose Island Bourbon County Stout 2022 Barrel House Collection for sale.
“Goose Island Bourbon County Stout is not just a local Chicago favorite, but globally known for setting the standard for barrel-aged stouts,” says Todd Ahsmann, president of Goose Island Beer Company. “Bourbon County Stout has always been attuned to culture and changing consumer trends, so it’s only fitting that we’re launching our first-ever NFT program.”
Ahsmann says Goose Island fans are a “passionate community” and he expects great interest in the new collection of non-fungible tokens. Other beer companies have launched NFTs, but Goose Island is perhaps the most notable craft brewery to do so.
“We see the Goose Island 2022 Barrel House Collection as an opportunity for new and established fans of BCS and new NFTs to have the opportunity to join a new community and purchase digital collectibles from the beloved brand. BCS,” says Ahsmann.
The Barrel House Collection is Goose Island’s first-ever NFT collection, consisting of 2,022 tokens commemorating Bourbon County Stout’s 30th anniversary and entry into the web3. Each NFT features designs inspired by the brewing process of the coveted Bourbon County Stout beers. NFT holders will be important members of brand growth, with unique incentives, exclusive access to benefits, rewards and surprises that only Goose Island can provide. The Barrel House Collection includes three levels of NFT BHC, all $399 (+ tax) and randomly generated – Select, Reserve and 24K Gold.
“These new markets allow us to offer our drinkers a much richer and deeper brand experience than ever before,” says Ahsmann.
Each tier has different levels of “unlocks” for BHC NFT holders. Access a range of “unlocks” from a barrel reach that was once used to age BCS for all BHC NFT holders to a one-on-one Bourbon County tasting with a Goose Island brewer, which will go to the sole holder of 24K Gold BHC NFT. “This new technology has the potential to change the way we look at everything from sponsorships, partnerships and creative campaigns,” he says.
There are eight Barrel House Collection NFTs, which illustrate the history of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, Ahsmann says. “Each chapter is as important as the next,” he says. “When all eight are cellared together, your smart contract will produce the ninth special edition.”
A portion of proceeds from the Barrel House Collection will benefit Erie Neighborhood House, a nonprofit social service organization that provides support, programs and resources to immigrant and low-income families in Chicago.
“Innovation has always been part of our DNA. We wouldn’t be celebrating 30 years of Bourbon County Stout if our brewers hadn’t tried something different, and we strive to bring something new and exciting to every BCS season,” says Ahsmann.
“This Barrel House NFT collection is definitely new to us, and it’s such a cool way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of our first batch of Bourbon County Stout,” he continues. “Now our BCS community – and NFT fans – can collect digital memorabilia to go along with the premium beers.”
