Pottstown, Pennsylvania, house explosion kills four

A home explosion killed at least four people Thursday night in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. UPDATE: A press conference is scheduled for Friday noon to release more information. Two other people were injured in the blast and taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown. And two other people are missing. The cause of the explosion is not yet clear. Police have not yet released the names of the victims. who need help should go to Pottstown High School. An investigation is underway by the Pottstown Borough Police Department. Police Statement Pottstown Police released the following statement on their website: “On Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 8:07 p.m. Pottstown Fire Department, EMS and Police were dispatched to the area of Washington Street and Butler Avenue for an explosion in a house. Emergency services arrived on the scene to find a house that had exploded with several victims requiring medical attention.” We can confirm that there are currently four (4) dead and two (2) people have been transported to regional hospitals for treatment. We are receiving reports that there may still be two (2) people missing. The fire department, EMS and police remain at the scene along with several other outside agencies including the ATF, the PSP Office of the Fire Marshal and the Red Cross. in Pottstown. The Red Cross will be on hand to provide assistance. “This is an ongoing investigation. Information is still being obtained and will be released as it becomes available. “A further press briefing will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022.”

It happened just after 8 p.m. at a house in the Washington Street and Butler Avenue area.

Two other people were injured in the blast and taken to hospital. Their condition is unknown. And two other people are missing.

It is not yet known what caused the explosion.

Police have yet to release the names of the victims.

The blast damaged several other homes in the borough of Pottstown and forced about 60 people from their homes.

Any affected resident requiring assistance should report to Pottstown High School.

An investigation is underway by the Pottstown Borough Police Department.

Pottstown Police released the following statement on their website:

“On Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 8:07 p.m., Pottstown Fire, EMS and Police were dispatched to the Washington Street and Butler Avenue area to an explosion in a home. Emergency services arrived at the scene to find an exploded house with multiple victims requiring medical attention.

“We can confirm that there are currently four (4) deaths and that two (2) people have been transported to regional hospitals for treatment. We are receiving information that there may still be two (2) people The Fire Department, EMS and Police remain at the scene along with several other outside agencies including ATF, PSP Fire Marshal’s Office and Red Cross.

“Any concerned resident who requires assistance should report to Pottstown High School at 750 N. Washington Street in Pottstown. The Red Cross will be on hand to provide assistance.

“This is an ongoing investigation. Information is still being obtained and will be released as it becomes available.

“Another press briefing will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, May 27, 2022.”
