Casey, Vicky White, wanted in Alabama prison break, arrested in Indiana

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Casey White and Vicky White, two people who gained national attention after staging a reported breakout from an Alabama prison, were captured here on Monday afternoon.

According to Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding, U.S. Marshals and Sheriff’s Deputies “intercepted” the whites after a short law enforcement pursuit on US 41. The U.S. Marshals collided with the white vehicle in a grassy area near Baumgart Road.

Wedding said Vicky White took her own life after the chase and suffered serious injuries. Casey White, the passenger, was injured in the accident. Both were taken to local hospitals.

Law enforcement will provide more information at a press conference on Tuesday.

Whites are unrelated. Casey White was in jail for attempted murder. Vicky White is a former correctional officer who officials say aided in his escape.

Casey White also allegedly confessed to a murder in 2015.

The situation began last week, when the US Marshals Service said investigators located an abandoned vehicle in Evansville that was allegedly used by an escaped Alabama inmate and his alleged accomplice.
