1 dead, 1 injured in shooting at Walmart in Fairfield Township

One person died and another was injured in a shooting at a Fairfield Township Walmart on Thursday night. The shooting happened at the Walmart store at 3201 Princeton Road just before 8 p.m. Police said the suspect was attempting to steal items from the store and an employee and others tried to arrest him. At that moment, the man started shooting. Police said some of those who tried to arrest him became victims. One person was taken to hospital to treat their injuries during the shooting. They are believed to be in critical condition, police said. Police said the shooter is still at large. He wore dark clothes and a red shirt. He was also wearing a mask, according to police. Hamilton police located the vehicle the suspected shooter fled in and said there was a passenger inside the vehicle who was not the shooter. The authorities are currently questioning this person. “I didn’t really see everything clearly. I know it was a worker who was shot in the stomach area,” said Dawson Irwin, who was a witness. “I ran to my car. It was weird because the Texas thing had just happened, talking about it. And then it happened here. It’s weird. It’s crazy to think about it. ” Fairfield Township officials, Liberty Township authorities, Butler County deputies and Hamilton City officials are all responding to the scene. Police are asking people to stay away from the area for the time being. “This is a very tragic incident. I can’t even begin to understand or speak for the people who were working here or shopping here when this happened,” said Corporal Doug Lanier of the Fairfield Township Police Department.
